The name Kothimora is given to the khukuri (kukri)whose scabbard is embellished with silver.The scabbard is highly ornamented using pure silver filigree with different traditional patterns, exceptionally done by hand. The Regimental color of velvet background is used while presenting to the retiring British or Gurkha army officers as a souvenir or mementos from his regiment as a honor. The Groom of the particular caste in Nepali religion must be decorated with Kothimora khukuri (kukri)on his traditional dress (Daura Suruwal) during his customary Marriage Ceremony.
